Villa Vanilla Spice Farm Tour
If you’d like to learn about some of Costa Rica’s tropical spices and plants, this is the perfect tour.
Villa Vanilla is a working farm set in the countryside about 10 miles outside Manuel Antonio. They grow cacao (chocolate) as well as many different spices and exotic fruits, with vanilla and cinnamon being their specialties.
For part of the tour, you’ll walk along a well-maintained jungle trail, learning more about how spices are grown.
You’ll then be taken to an open-air wooden structure for the best part of the tour – the tastings! Here, you’ll get to try some of the spices in delicious handcrafted drinks and desserts, all while enjoying lovely rainforest views.
The walking portion of the tour is along a mostly flat, well-maintained trail. This is a good tour for families or anyone looking for a foodie experience.
An assortment of spices are available for purchase at the end of the tour.
Cost: $52 per person adults. $33 per person children ages 5-12. Rates plus 13% tax. Children 4 and under are free (option to pay $12 to let kids participate in the tasting at end of tour).
