Ecotermales Hot Springs Pass in Arenal/La Fortuna
The hot springs in La Fortuna are one of the most unique experiences in the area. The water is naturally heated by Arenal Volcano.
There are several options for hot springs resorts in La Fortuna, but we like Ecotermales. It is smaller than some of the other resorts and less commercial feeling.
Ecotermales has six large hot springs pools with temperatures ranging from a warm 32°C (90°F) to a steamy 41°C (106°F). They also have two mountain-fed cold water pools for temperature regulating. The pools are nicely spread out and separated by lush tropical gardens. Servers come around taking orders for drinks while you’re relaxing.
Ecotermales limits the number of people to around 100/day so it is less busy.
Day passes are available with or without a meal. Add dinner or lunch to your entrance pass.
*If you are traveling during high season (December through April), we highly recommend making your reservation at least two weeks in advance as Ecotermales does sell out.
Ecotermales Hot Springs Pass Details:
Cost, Entrance Only (2026-2027): $43 per person adults; $25 per person children ages 5-11. Rates plus 13% tax. Kids ages 4 and under are free.
Offered: (1) Day Pass – 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (2) Night Pass – 5:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Alternative Schedules: During busy times of year, Ecotermales offers our clients entrance on an alternative schedule. This allows more people to visit when they would otherwise be full. Here are the 2 alternative passes:
(1) Alternative Night Pass – 7:00-9:30 p.m. Same price: $43/adult, $25/child + tax
(2) Moon Thermal Experience (Adults Only) – 8:15-10:45 p.m. Also includes 1 classic cocktail per person. Same price: $43/adult + tax
Includes: Entrance and use of towel, locker, and showers.
*Ecotermales does not offer transportation. We recommend taking a taxi if you won’t have a rental car.
