Private Night Tour in Monteverde
Monteverde is one of the best places in Costa Rica for a night tour because it has a huge diversity of wildlife. This tour is at a small reserve just outside town. The trails here are relatively flat and easy to navigate in the dark with your flashlight.
Wildlife that is commonly spotted includes sleeping sloths and birds, snakes, scorpions, kinkajou, opossum, tarantulas, and many insects. The guides we use are locals who are very knowledgeable about the animals and insects, their habits, food, and significance in the forest. Even though it’s dark, there are still many photo opportunities.
This is a private tour with only your family/group.
Cost of Private Tour: $44 per person adults and children ages 4 and up. Add 13% tax + $7 per person entrance fee. You will pay your own entrance fee directly to the Reserve on the day of the tour.

This was a strenuous hike into the preserve and good for those who enjoy nighttime activities. Members of the group saw a sloth and forest insects. There are several different terrain levels to manage, so good shoes and a
strong sense of adventure are a must for this activity.

This tour was enjoyable and informative. Our guide pointed out birds, snakes, insects, as well as a sloth and a kinkajou. We learned a lot from our guide – he was very knowledgeable about the wildlife we saw on this tour.
