Two weeks in September

Hi,
We love your blog! We will be traveling for two weeks at the end of September and will spend the first week near La Cruz with all our family. Is it worth traveling up into Nicaragua? Or any suggestions for the area? We then have a week to ourselves (plus our two adventurous kiddos 6 and 9). We would pick up a rental in Liberia and start there. We want to head up in to the mountains for a few days and then hit the coast for the remainder of the trip. Is it fairly easy to find accomidations as we go or do we need to reserve a room? We were really hoping to try to fly by the seat of our pants and see where it leads us.
Thanks for the rental car info as well,
Scott

Hi Scott,
I wouldn’t advise going up through Nicaragua right now since there is some unrest there. Santa Rosa National Park has some cool areas to visit. There are a few sectors that we haven’t visited but hope to get back to. In September things are pretty slow so you will probably have no problem booking accommodations as you go. Have a great family trip!
