Canopy Safari Zipline Tour in Manuel Antonio

This zipline tour is a great all-around experience because it combines several adventures into one.

Zipline Tour

The Canopy Safari zipline tour begins with pick up at your hotel or vacation rental in Manuel Antonio. You’ll drive through lush palm fields and the scenic countryside to get to the tour company’s base camp/restaurant about 45 minutes away.

Once you arrive, the guides will fit you for equipment and give a safety talk where you’ll learn the basics of how to use the equipment.

From the base camp, you’ll do the first zipline. Cable 1 is short and meant to get you comfortable.

The guides will then lead you on a short hike (about 10 minutes) through the lush rainforest to reach the next platform. Along the way, they’ll point out any wildlife you come across. When we have done the tour, we saw many green and black poison dart frogs.

You’ll continue on the circuit to different adventures. In total, there are 11 zipline cables, 2 rappels, 1 suspension bridge, a Tarzan swing, and a Superman line where you go head first (optional). The Tarzan Swing is a quick swing between two platforms that are fairly close together. For the rappels, the guides will show you the technique of using the rope to guide yourself down. A guide at the bottom controls the descent as well, ensuring your safety.

The final cable is the thrilling Superman line. After finishing the main course, you’ll walk from the base camp to the Superman cable where you will get to zipline facedown, Superman style, over the scenic river.

Overall, this zipline tour is great for families, beginners, or anyone who is nervous. The cables are really fun, but none are very high up or fast like at some other zipline tours in Costa Rica. It’s very easy to use the equipment. You just need to hold the harness in front of you. The guides are professional, helpful, and fun.

Not sure about ziplining but still want to come along? See the Visitor’s Pass option below.

Butterfly Garden, Serpentarium, and Crocodile Pond

The tour also includes a visit to the company’s butterfly garden and serpentarium. The butterfly garden has several species of butterflies native to Costa Rica, including the iconic blue morpho. You’ll be able to see them close up at feeders and in the gardens.

At the bottom level of the butterfly garden is the serpentarium. In the glass enclosures, you can see several kinds of snakes, including the eyelash pitviper, tiger rat snake, and terciopelo.

Right next to the butterfly garden is the small crocodile pond where you can see a few giant crocodiles from a bridge above.

Meal

The tour includes fresh fruit when you arrive and a delicious homemade meal after. The meal is served buffet style and consists of traditional chicken, rice and beans, vegetables, green salad, and plantains. Fresh fruit juice, water, and coffee are also provided.

We had a blast on this trip! Our 8 year old felt very safe and supported, and the guides were professional, encouraging and fun. It was a great way to experience the forest. We even saw some special frogs on the walk up. The meal was delicious, and we loved the butterfly garden. I highly recommend this experience for families!

This was so fun. The tour guides went out of their way to make sure we were having fun. It was raining but that only added to the fun and excitement. We felt safe the entire time. The lunch was so delicious. Would do it again!
