Hi
We (my husband and I) arrive in San Jose on September 22 and depart October 6. This will be our fourth trip to CR but first time on the Caribbean side. We will be renting a car. Any suggestions on things and places to see/do? We also are interested in going to Panama for a couple of nights. Is there an easy way to do that by shuttle? We love the Parks, beaches, swimming, diving, water rafting, horseback riding etc. Would love several nights accommodation on a beach somewhere. Any suggestions are welcome!

That’s awesome that you and your husband will be on your 4th trip! The Caribbean side should be great in October. As you probably have read, the weather is better on that side of the country during September and October. Definitely check out our posts on Tortuguero, Cahuita, and Puerto Viejo for some ideas on where to stay and what is available for activities. Tortuguero and Cahuita National Park are both excellent for wildlife, but the whole area is really. For your visit to Panama, you can easily hop over to Bocas del Toro, Panama on a shuttle/boat shuttle. It is very affordable and the border process is also pretty simple. We set this up often and can give you a hand if you’d like.
