We are planning our first trip to Costa Rica and I’m very excited! We only have a week, so we’d like to see as much wildlife and nature as possible but also relax by the ocean. We are flying into Liberia. Can you suggest 2 or maybe 3 places to visit that don’t involve a lot of driving? We don’t want to spend too much of our precious time in the car.

From Liberia there are a lot of beach towns within a reasonable drive. You might like Playa Hermosa, Playa Brasilito, or Tamarindo depending on your interests. Those towns are more north and have excellent beaches but not as much wildlife and jungle. To get that (without driving too far from LIR), you could check out Nosara or Playa Samara to the south. Additionally you might like to take a day trip to a park/reserve that will have more/different wildlife. Rincon de la Vieja is a popular one or we recently discovered Lomas Barbudal and loved it.
