One more question before we arrive! Should we pack panchos, hats and insect repellent or can we just get all 3 fairly reasonable once we are there? We are assuming it is still rather rainy at this time of year in La Fortuna and Guanacaste.

Yes definitely pack those things since getting them here can sometimes be a pain and they will be more expensive. Insect repellent options are pretty limited too, so if you have a favorite kind, bring it. We have some suggestions for that in our Mosquitoes post and other general packing advice, including rainy season tips in our packing list.
