We will be driving from Monteverde to Playa Hermosa in February and wanted to stop for the night near Palo Verde National Park, so that we can take one of the river boat tours out of Ortega. Any suggestions for hotels in that area. Not much is turning up on the travel websites. Thanks!

Hi Susan,
You are right that there isn’t much available for lodging near Ortega. Many of those Palo Verde boat tours include transportation from the beach towns in Guanacaste. You could probably arrange it with your hotel in Playa Hermosa. Another option is a small lodge, called La Ensendada, on the south side of Palo Verde. I believe they do offer tours into Palo Verde as well.
