We will be in Costa Rica for a family trip that will include kids ages 4, 5, 10, and 15. Someone mentioned that we should book a guided tour to get the most out of visiting the park, but someone else said that since we have little kids with us we should skip the guided tour and do it on our own. What do you suggest?

Hi Stephanie,
I guess it depends on how squirmy your 4 and 5 year old are. I know our 2.5 year old can make guided tours a bit tough but maybe by 4 he will settle down. A guide will add a lot if you do think they can handle it. If you go on your own, you will probably be occupied trying to keep an eye on everyone, and won’t have as much of a chance to look for things and point them out. We recently updated our Manuel Antonio National Park post to include a lot of new information. It might help you decide. If you do go with a guide, we know a great one (who has kids of his own) that can keep things moving and entertaining. If you are interested in setting it up, just shoot us a note: bookings(at)twoweeksincostarica(dot)com
