Hi. We are coming to CR in August and will be going to Manuel Antoino, then to Arenal and then Tortuego. We need to check out of our lodging in Tortuego on a Friday and have a 12:30 p.m. flight out of SJO on Sunday. Any thoughts on where we could go/stay for Friday and Sat. night that\’s still close enough to SJO to fly out on Sunday? We aren\’t interested in staying in San Jose if possible. And, we will have younger kids with us so it will be a busy trip as it is so maybe a relaxing spot? Trying to minimize two more moves…the other thought is that we can leave a day earlier on Sat. to go back home being we haven’t officially booked the flights yet. Any thoughts are appreciated. Hi Jennifer,
Just an idea but there is a very relaxing place in Rio Blanco, near Braulio Carrillo National Park. It is about 1.5-2 hours from the airport and about the same from the La Pavona docks for Tortuguero, so could be a good halfway point. We mention it on our blog about the park near the end: https://www.twoweeksincostarica.com/braulio-carrillo-national-park/. There is also an aerial tram nearby, which the kids might really like.
