We are staying in Punta Islita at the end of June. We are trying to decide to take the hotel shuttle from Liberia or drive. The big question is do you need 4 wheel drive or will a sedan make the trip during this time of year.

Hi Brian,
It’s probably best to have a 4×4 to get to Punta Islita. The roads around there are mostly dirt and it is the start of the rainy season so you never know the conditions. Having a 4×4 would give you peace of mind and more confidence exploring the area. It’s more expensive but you can save some money using our Rental Car Discount.
