Hi Matt and Jenn, I needed some advice please and thank you. I am planning on visiting Costa Rica for the first time in September 2018. The dates will be probably early September 4-11 or 5-12 but I am flexible. I wanted to visit La Fortuna and Manuel Antonio. I was wondering how the weather would be and if those 2 places are possible in the 6-7 days I am in Costa Rica. Also I will be renting a car, through Adobe (thank you for the discount in advance). Do you think I can also add Monteverde or would you add anything else to the trip? I am landing in San Jose, then driving to Arenal, then Manuel Antonio and back to San Jose. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Danial,
September is generally one of the rainiest months in Costa Rica (October also) so just be prepared for that. You can read our Weather Post to get a better idea. That being said, sometimes in September the weather is actually pretty nice in La Fortuna (they get some of the same weather as the Caribbean side, which tends to be drier in September). It can be very rainy on the Pacific side at that time, but Manuel Antonio is still very beautiful and will be very quiet. If you do come in September we’d recommend keeping it to just those two destinations. That way if you get rained out one day you can schedule an activity for the next day with hopefully better weather. It’s also better to leave out Monteverde because the road to and from can be muddy and difficult. It also takes a while and you don’t have a lot of time with just 6-7 days. Check out our Driving to Monteverde Post for more about that drive.
