Christmas 2016

jlawson asked 8 years ago

Our family of 4 (2 adults and 10 and 12 year old)  will be in Montverde and travelling to Nicoya Peninsula on Christmas Day. Any suggestions regarding where to stay over Christmas Holidays for about 3-4 days. Eventually Planning to head to Montezuma and take ferry to Puntarenas at some point to go to Manual Antonio.

jlawson,
Sounds like you have a good plan, just know that the time around Christmas is very busy and hotels book up quickly. Beach towns like Tamarindo, Brasilito, and Playa Hermosa will be very crowded but also festive and fun. If you’re looking to avoid crowds maybe try some more remote spots on the mid-coast of the Nicoya. Punta Islita is nice. It sits on a beautiful cove and there are only a couple of hotels there so it won’t be overly crowded. If you wanted to get even further down the peninsula, Playa San Miguel and Coyote are options as well. There are surprisingly a good selection of hotels in that area (see here) and we have heard great things about Cristal Azul, a boutique hotel with a fantastic ocean view. Hope this gives you some ideas, have a fun trip!
