Shuttle Schedule
The pick-up time is completely customizable, available 24 hours a day. Just enter your preferred time on the form. The driver will arrive a few minutes early and be waiting at the hotel reception or outside the vacation rental house.
Note that late-night service (between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.) may be subject to extra charges. We would notify you of this by email before finalizing your booking.
We recommend booking at least 3 days ahead, and a week or more if you can. For Christmas, New Year’s, and Easter, book 1 to 2 months in advance since vehicles sell out quickly during those weeks.
Shuttle Duration and Included Stops
The drive from the San Jose metro area to the Cano Blanco boat docks is approximately 3.5 hours. Up to 1 hour of additional time is included for stops to use the restroom, have a quick meal, pick up groceries, take pictures, etc.
The driver will be happy to recommend a restaurant or store along the way.
We can also help coordinate longer stops along the route to see an attraction. If you would like to make a longer stop, please let us know so that we can quote the additional hours of waiting time. Waiting time typically costs around $30-40 per hour. The driver can hold your bags securely in the van while you enjoy the tour or attraction.
Shuttle Price/Cost
2026 – Private shuttle from the San Jose metro area to the Cano Blanco boat docks, starting at $234 (1-8 passengers). For 9-16 passengers, the price is $405.
2027 – From December 15, 2026, this shuttle starts at $251 (1-8 passengers).
Our booking system will adjust the price based on the total number of passengers. The shuttle price covers the entire vehicle, not each passenger. All rates are plus tax (13%).
Note: Onward private boat transport to Tortuguero is not included and should be arranged separately through your lodge.
Payment
You won’t pay until your order is confirmed. Submit your order, we’ll schedule it with our favorite operator in that area, then send you a confirmation and a link to pay the full fare in advance. This takes anywhere from 1 hour to 24 hours, depending on the route, urgency, and complexity of your order.
Prices are in US Dollars. We accept major credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay through our secure payment processor, Stripe. Once paid, you’ll receive a final confirmation email and be ready to go. We’ll also send a reminder the day before your service.
What to Expect
On the day of service, a friendly, reliable driver will arrive on time and carefully transport you to your destination. This is a one-way service (not roundtrip). Our drivers use modern, air-conditioned vans and minibuses, and we ensure that the drivers and companies are licensed by the Costa Rican government and insured. The exact vehicle depends on the size of your group and the schedule that day.
Since this is a private shuttle service, only your group will be in the vehicle, no other passengers.
Luggage is stored in the back. We size the van to account for 1 large suitcase and 1 medium carry-on bag per passenger (plus personal items). If you have more, just let us know so that we can send a larger vehicle.
Car seats and booster seats are free of charge and can be requested on the form. You’re also welcome to bring and install your own.
Our contact and the shuttle operator’s contact will both be on your final confirmation, so we’re easy to reach on the day of travel.
