River Float Trip with Llanos de Cortez Waterfall Stop – Group Tour from Guanacaste
This is a great opportunity to see wildlife by boat during your time in Guanacaste.
On an inflatable raft, you will explore the tropical dry forest around the lower Tenorio or Corobici River (depends on water levels).
As you float along the calm water, your naturalist guide will help you spot birds and animals. When we did this tour, we saw monkeys, bats, iguanas, crocodiles, a river otter, and many types of birds like osprey, herons, parrots, and kingfisher. You’ll also learn about the interesting plants and trees like gigantic kapoks, fig, and rubber. This trip is a combination of tranquility plus a bit of adventure when you pass some very safe Class 1 or 2 rapids.
After the float, you’ll head to a local restaurant for lunch next to a scenic river.
On the way back, you’ll stop at the gorgeous Llanos de Cortez. This waterfall is really wide and wispy. The base has a big pool that is good for swimming and a sandy “beach” area to hang out and take pictures. It’s easy to reach the waterfall. From the parking area, it’s a short 5 minute hike down some well-maintained steps.
