Answer for Where to stay in Puerto Viejo for Solo Traveller

Hi Sherri Ann,

Puerto Viejo sounds like a good spot for you. The area has gorgeous beaches, some are better for swimming and others surfing. There’s also plenty of hiking and yoga. You might want to check out our post on Puerto Viejo if you haven’t already for some more ideas and tips on things to do: https://www.twoweeksincostarica.com/puerto-viejo-caribbean-cool-in-costa-rica/.

Here are some ideas for hotels. Keep in mind that most restaurants, bars, shops, grocery stores, etc. are located in downtown Puerto Viejo. The downtown can be noisy but if you go just a little farther out near Playa Cocles, it’s a lot quieter. There are more restaurants along the main road that runs from Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo too.

Hotel Blue Conga: a short walk to downtown Puerto Viejo. Nice because close to everything but far enough away from the busy downtown. 10 rooms, pool on site, around $70 a night, includes breakfast.

Physis Caribbean Bed & Breakfast: Cute B&B right on the main road. Close to Cocles Beach- good surfing, people watching, yoga, and a short walk to downtown Puerto Viejo. $100 for a double room, includes breakfast. Rooms have A/C.

Caribe Town: Nice bungalows very close to Cocles Beach. Near small grocery store in Cocles. $90, includes breakfast.

Cabinas Punta Uva: Good for a quiet beach getaway. Cabins located on the beautiful Punta Uva. This beach is great for swimming and snorkeling. Punta Uva is a little farther from town but you’d be fine if you had a bike (a common way to get around town). $70.

Have a great trip!
