Hanging Bridges and Tram Tour at Sky Adventures Arenal
The hanging bridges and tram ride at Sky Adventures are a wonderful way to take in the lush rainforest and get views of Arenal Volcano.
Hanging Bridges Hike
On the hanging bridges hike, you will follow a well-maintained path to 2 long suspension bridges (416-496 feet/127-143 meters) and get to enjoy views of Arenal Volcano. You’ll pass through dense primary rainforest and see grand trees along the way. The viewing platform midway through the hike is a highlight. It looks out to Lake Arenal and the Monteverde Cloud Forest in the distance.
The trail is about 2.5 miles (4 km) total. The terrain is dirt and has some inclines, but overall, it’s easy to moderate in difficulty.
We highly recommend adding a guide ($5 pp) so that you can see more wildlife. On our visits, we have seen sloths, eyelash pit viper snakes, coatis (a raccoon-like animal), monkeys, toucans, and other birds. If you choose to add a guide, they will stop along the way to teach you about the ecosystem and point out wildlife.
Note that for the guided tour, you will only go as far as the viewpoint and back to reception instead of doing the whole loop (see map photo). This includes the two hanging bridges and viewpoint. The guided tour takes about 1.5-2 hours.
Tram
You will also take a tram ride above the tree line to enjoy more views. The open gondola will take you up the mountain to the highest point on the property. A naturalist guide will join you, teaching you about the local flora and fauna. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the top.
At the summit, you will arrive at a wide observation platform. The giant “Hand of Arenal” sculpture is a great spot for photos. It looks out to the lush rainforest and Lake Arenal. You can also explore the short 800 meter/0.5 mile trail through the jungle. You’ll then take the tram back down to the main building.
Each gondola can hold 6 people + the guide. Bathrooms are available at the top.

Cost of Hanging Bridges and Tram Tour (2026): $78 per person adults; $65 per person students up to age 25 (ID required); $54 per person children ages 5-12. Rates plus 13% tax. Children under 5 are free.
