Samara Trails Guided Hike
We highly recommended this tour at the Werner Sauter Biological Reserve (Samara Trails) just outside Samara. With a knowledgeable local guide leading the way, you will learn about the flora and fauna of the tropical dry forest.
This reserve is home to a lot of wildlife. When we have visited, we have seen howler monkeys, white-nosed coati, tropical porcupines, owls, butterflies, and many kinds of birds. The naturalist guide teaches you interesting things about the ecosystem and really makes you appreciate it. As a bonus, the ocean views from the top of the hill are spectacular.
The hike is moderate in difficulty. The trail is steep in places and it can be very hot. If you are looking for an easier hike, we recommend this tour to a different private reserve. It has more shade and is relatively flat.
