Pinilla Canopy Tour: Zip Lining Near Tamarindo
Overview
This is a fun zip-lining option about 25 minutes from Tamarindo on the way to Playa Avellanas. They have 7 lines that take you through the beautiful canopy of the tropical dry forest.
The lines aren’t too intense but still really fun. It’s a great course for beginners or kids because you aren’t too high off the ground and each line is fairly short. This was the first zip-line tour that our son (age 6 at the time) did, and he loved it.
In addition to the zip lines, there’s a hanging bridge, modified Tarzan swing, and controlled free fall (optional).
Tour Details
For the hanging bridge, you walk up a short, wobbly bridge while being harnessed in safely.
For the Tarzan swing, you glide on a long rope from one platform to another. It’s similar to a regular zip-line cable but you bounce a little.
For the controlled free fall, you jump off a platform about 30-40 feet (9-12 meters), and a mechanism automatically catches you shortly after. This gives the thrill of a jump with a smooth catch. An instructor is there to help you at the bottom.
If you are up for it, you can also hang upside-down like Spiderman on one of the lines!
The course goes through the jungle and over a small streambed. You can sometimes see wildlife like howler monkeys and tropical birds along the way. The guides are very enthusiastic and friendly, and ensure that every participant is comfortable, safe, and has fun.
Fresh fruit and water are served at the end of the tour.
