Marlin del Rey Catamaran Tour – Tamarindo
A catamaran excursion is a great combo-type tour because not only do you get out on a sailboat, but they stop in a calmer bay for snorkeling, swimming, etc. They also serve snacks, include a meal (BBQ chicken, rice, sides, etc.), and have an open bar.
Morning or afternoon tours are available. We recommend the afternoon because it includes sunset on your way back in (around 5:30 pm), and Tamarindo has some great ones.
This boat is quite large (66 feet long) and can hold up to 70 people. It has a party-like atmosphere since they play music and the staff is fun.
There is no dock so you will wade through shallow water to take a short motorboat ride to reach the catamaran.
Cost: Morning Tour – $72 per person adults; $65 per person children ages 6-11. Rates plus 13% tax. Children 5 and under are free.
Afternoon Tour – $92 per person adults; $65 per person children ages 6-11. Rates plus 13% tax. Children 5 and under are free. *We don’t book the afternoon tour in September and October due to the likelihood of rain.
Offered: 8:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
Duration: 4 hours (approximate)
Included: Snorkel and safety equipment; light snacks and fresh fruit; light meal with BBQ chicken, yellow rice, chips and dip, and fresh baked cookies (served 2-3 hours into the tour); open bar with natural juices, sodas, premium liquors (Flor de Cana Rum, Absolute Vodka, Jack Daniels Whiskey, Tanqueray Gin, Jose Cuervo Tequila, and local Cacique Guaro), wines (Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon), and beer (Imperial, Coors Light, and Miller).
*Transportation is not included. The meeting point is on the beach in Tamarindo.
**If you’re looking for a more low-key tour, we recommend Panache Sailing. They are located in Playa Flamingo but offer pickup from Tamarindo.
