With a knowledgeable naturalist guide, you will paddle along a calm river and estuary that is surrounded by thick mangrove forest. Lots of wildlife can be spotted in this pristine environment, including monkeys, raccoons, sloths, herons, hawks, osprey, crabs, and much more. The tour company that we work with takes you to a river/mangrove system in a small town that few operators use so it’s very private. The tour also includes a stop at a beautiful, secluded beach.

This is an easy paddle along gentle water so perfect for just about anyone.

Once you’re back at the starting location, you’ll get to enjoy some delicious fresh tropical fruit along the river.

Single and double kayaks are available as well as stand up paddleboards.

Cost: $66 per person adults. $53 per person children 10 and under. Rates plus 13% tax.

Offered: Depends on the tide. We will let you know the meeting time by email before you pay.

Duration: 4 hours (2-3 hours paddle) (approximate)

Includes: A 4-hour tour of the Matapalo mangroves (2-2.5 hours paddle) with a bilingual naturalist guide. Equipment; photos; insect repellent; water; fruit; and use of binoculars, and dry bags.

*Transportation is not included. You will meet the tour company in Dominical then follow them to the river in your own vehicle. Secure parking is available. If you won’t have a rental car, let us know.
