Night Tour with Transportation (Group Tour) – Arenal/La Fortuna
Experience the rainforest come alive after dark on this guided night tour just outside downtown La Fortuna. The tour takes place at a small private reserve near La Fortuna Waterfall.
Shortly after sunset, your bilingual naturalist guide will lead you along the well-maintained trail in search of nocturnal creatures. Night tours are fun because the wildlife you can see is completely different from the daytime.
When we did this tour, we were able to spot many different types of frogs in the thick greenery along the edge of the trail. We saw rain frogs, masked tree frogs, rubber frogs, and the iconic red-eyed tree frog. The property passes through thick, pristine jungle and some man-made ponds, perfect for attracting frogs and other animals.
In addition to frogs, our guide showed us a sloth high up in a tree, a sleeping woodpecker, and even snakes like a cat-eyed snake and eyelash pit viper. The guides we use for this tour are very knowledgeable about Costa Rica’s wildlife.
The path takes you through thick rainforest but is wide and good for walking at night. You’ll be given a flashlight to help you navigate. Your guide will do a safety briefing at the beginning of the tour.
Terrain
The trail is easy and mostly flat with a few small inclines and steps.

Cost of Group Tour (12 people max): $63 per person adults. $38 per person children ages 5-11. Rates plus 13% tax.
