Frog Night Tour in Bijagua/Rio Celeste
Night tours are fun because you can see a lot of wildlife that is harder to see during the day, like frogs, snakes, and certain insects. Bijagua is a wonderful destination to explore at night because of the region’s amazing biodiversity.
On this tour, a local guide will take you along a flat trail through special gardens that have been planted to attract frogs. The section of forest is adjacent to a wetland, the perfect frog habitat.
By the light of a flashlight, you’ll look for the red-eyed tree frog, blue jean poison dart frog, hourglass frog, rain frog, and see-through glass frog, among others.
Sometimes you can see other kinds of animals too. During our walk, we saw a sloth moving around in the trees, snail-eating snake (harmless), and lots of really cool looking insects. Every night is different and you never know what you might encounter!
