Cooking Class – Rio Celeste Area
If you’re interested in learning more about local cuisine, this fun cooking class is a great option.
Alongside a local cook, you’ll get to prepare traditional Costa Rican food. The menu varies but you will make things like smoked pork or chicken, patacones (savory fried plantains), rice and beans, pico de gallo, and rice pudding for dessert. You’ll also have the chance to hand grind corn to make fresh tortillas. Vegetarian and vegan options available.
Everything is prepared over a woodstove. Many of the ingredients come from the local area.
At the end, you’ll sit down to enjoy the delicious meal you helped prepare.
We did this tour with our kids (ages 5 and 9) and they both loved it. It’s very hands on.
