We were planning on driving down from Tamarindo to Nosara, stay there and hope to walk along the beaches towards the turtle nesting beaches from Nosara. However,we\’ve been reading that the road from Ostional to Nosara might be washed out at that time. Is this correct? If so, where would you suggest we stay instead? After Nosara, we were planning on heading back towards San jose to catch our flight.

Hi Teresa,
Yes, sometimes it can be flooded between Nosara and Ostional. I believe that they just made a new bridge to help with this but If you are heading back to San Jose afterwards, it is probably best to stay on the Nosara side of the river. That way you won’t have as long of a trip back to the airport in case the road between Ostional and Nosara is flooded. From Nosara, If you can’t reach Ostional (if there is an arribada) you may be able to cross the river at the Boca Nosara (if the river isn’t too swift) and cross over to the beach and walk up that way. Just be sure to bring lots of water and snacks.
