Loved the proximity to the beach, and that we could walk to lots of restaurants and shops. The little pool was very nice for cooling off after a hot day, and the breakfast was great. The ambiance was a bit like a hostel, but clean and comfortable. Friendly staff, laundry available and a community kitchen .

Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach.
Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach. There are many other beaches nearby. It has quite a few restaurants and cafes to choose from. Lots of great fish. Prices are "reasonable" by comparison with some fancier locations along the coast, but all prices in US dollars are high for Canadians.
Just two hours from Liberia airport, this town has a laid back feel. Not sure how long that will last.

Samara is a funky little beach town with lots of little eateries and shops, and a number of restaurants right on the beach undercover with enough variety to make it interesting. There were also enough activities and beaches in the area to enjoy.

This is a great little town with a beautiful beach and yummy food options. We wish we could have spent more time here to explore the different restaurants a bit more. We hope to come back soon! We also really enjoyed the neighboring beach of Carrillo, which we drove to - but it didn't have food options the way Samara did.

A wonderful walkable town with many restaurants, excellent couple massages, friendly community, and beautiful beaches. I did the Warner preserve tour with a native Samarian - he was EXCELLENT - a fantastic visit. My husband and I are thinking about coming back and staying much longer. The community seems very low key - just the right pace for us :)

The beach and ocean are beautiful.
The beach and ocean are beautiful. There are lots of restaurants and fun bars to have a drink. The city government has to work harder at keeping the town clean. Sidewalks, store fronts and some restaurants need to be improved, there were so many flies at one of the restaurants where we ate, that we ended up having to leave. There is very limited parking, there should be a place where excursion buses can park further away from town, it feels chaotic.
It really doesn’t get much better than this in Samara especially for the price. The most amazing friendly staff. All the gifts they give for staying makes it feel that much more special. Included breakfast is super convenient and makes the room price cheaper when you consider that you’ll spend $20-30 as a couple on the same breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Lots of seating for beach chilling. The bar is very creative and high quality use of ingredients. The dinner serving staff is so professional and knowledgeable,
Honestly could not fault this property, we stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip and it was a perfect way to finish an incredible stay in Costa Rica. All the rooms face onto the beautiful gardens and pool, with a small seating area for each room which was a very peaceful and quiet area. Breakfast was cooked fresh each morning, and each breakfast was different and absolutely delicious! The staff are so friendly and are happy to help with anything. Would definitely stay here again!
The most INCREDIBLE hostel and place to stay on the Pacific Coast. The new owners are amazing, the staff is friendly and warm, and Liz and Nico were especially helpful in making sure my stay was as fun and comfortable as possible. I stayed in the Jungle Dorm as a solo female traveler for 2 weeks and wish I could have stayed even longer. While there are limited amenities, this is the place go for making friends, having fun, and just generally partaking in the best vibes in Samara Beach.
The room had a lovely little balcony with chairs and a hammock which was great to relax on. The air conditioning worked well, the bed was comfortable and I loved the pool area. The pool is small but refreshing to get in on a hot day and there were comfortable sun loungers. It was only a short walk to the beach, Samara feels compact but big enough to have a range of restaurants- perfect for a relaxing last few days of my trip to Costa Rica!
The modern chic lodge is up in the hills above Samara with a wonderful view of both Playa Samara and Playa Carillo, and a lovely pool. A 4 x 4 vehicle is advisable due to the climb on the dirt roads. Samara itself is my favorite Costa Rican cramped beach town of restaurants, hotels, bars, shops, etc., crowded during high season, so this is an excellent option for being near to it but getting away from noise at night.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay here. A very tranquil and beautiful area about 20 minutes from busy crowded Samara. So peaceful and quiet plus a 15 minute walk to a gorgeous deserted beach where we found monkeys and hermit crabs! The staff were great and the hottest shower we found in Costa Rica! I don’t think we could have found a better place to stay! Thanks Rainer!!!
This is a great little hotel located right on the Samara Beach. They have a very nice lounging area on the sand. We loved everything about this place. The restaurant is open all day until 9 PM and the food is delicious. The staff in the hotel and restaurant is very friendly and helpful. I hope we can come back to Bahia Hotel again in the future.
Very well maintained facility. Pool was a little oasis surrounded by well maintained vegetation providing a lush and private environment. Samara is small community with a nice vibe and the hotel is a short walk to the beach, restaurants and downtown. Beach chairs and umbrellas were provided for guest use which was very nice!
The best hostel in Costa Rica. All the staff and owners were very friendly. They made our stay very enjoyable and different. We loved the energy. The place is very clean and confortable and the outside space is lovely.
The house makes you feel at home, you'll probably extend your stay ;)

Great location right in “downtown” and close to everything, literally nothing is more than 5min walk away. Room (private) was lovely and comfortable, and had the best AC during my 5weeks in Costa Rica - so quiet you barely knew it was on.
The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Very well located hotel in Samara. You get a sense that you are staying in a traditional Costa Rican lodging here not only because of the decor but the friendly hosts. Danielle and Luis are very friendly as are the housekeeping staff. Close to restaurants, shops, Samara beach and bus stop.
Our stay in Hotel Casa Buenavista was amazing. Welcome was great and friendly, room decoration was superb, location was close to the beach with an impressive bay an not crowdy. We had lunch and dinner at the hotel, was very convenient. Swimming pools were perfect too.
Great rooms, quiet location and close to the beach, amazing breakfast, beautiful and clean pools and incredible hosts. Would go back anytime! Best hotel we stayed in during our 14 day Costa Rica trip. Can‘t recommend enough!
Perfect location centralized in Samara Beach. You can walk to everything from this hotel. Huge bonus is that your literally on the beach as soon as you step out of your room. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
The man at reception ( name begins with ‘O’). He was funny and friendly. Free parking. Very pretty hotel and comfortable quiet rooms facing a pool
Very near the beach and lots is restaurants.
Lovely hotel tucked away between two beaches with frequently visiting monkeys, iguanas, birds and butterflies 🦋 Very comfortable rooms, freshly cooked breakfast. 2 min walk to Sámara beach
