UVITA lodging

tkuhe asked 7 years ago

First.. Amazing website, thank you!

So this would be the first vacation we have taken as a family so I am really trying to make it special for my wife and children, two girls ages 6&7.
We are looking to travel between 4/12-4/19 and flying into SJO and renting a car. Its all a little last minute but we are trying to find lodging in Dominical or Uvita and struggling a little. Had a place on VRBO that just fell through and now I am worried.
We are interested in seeing wildlife, kayaking, hiking, canopy tour, snorkeling, visiting beaches, and maybe even a surf lesson or two. Other than that we are a pretty relaxed group and really want to enjoy the local surroundings and expose our children to some of the amazing beauty CR has to offer. Also, sit in a hammock, drink a beer and watch a few sunsets.
If you have any suggestions on rentals that would be really helpful.
Regards,
-Tucker

Hi Tucker,
Your dates somewhat overlap with Holy Week (Easter Week), which is one of the busiest weeks for the beaches in Costa Rica. So that is why you might be having a tough time, especially with a rental house. A lot of locals rent houses or camp out on the beaches during that week and there are a lot of tourists too because of the school breaks. One idea is to look a little bit into the mountains, near Platanillo. Maybe it isn’t as booked up yet and it is a pretty easy drive down to the coast? Hopefully that helps!
