Hola. I am planning to move to CR in about 10 years…(have to save up some real $ in the meantime).  First, thank you for such an informative, interactive website.  Second, I would like to know your thoughts on the highland towns/cities in the Southern Zone.  My thinking is that I could live within driving distance to the beach, but still get the mountain breeze, less humidity, mosquitos, etc and still take part in a local community.

Have you visited (or know anyone who has) San Vito, San Isidro de el General, Buenos Aires?  If so, thoughts on living there…

Thanks!

Hi gunnar429,
Those are all great little cities and we have at least traveled through each of them. If you’re looking for somewhere within a reasonable drive to the beach, San Isidro de El General would really be the only choice out of those. It’s about an hour to the nearest beach (Dominical) depending on where you live. We actually live fairly close to there and visit it frequently to go to the dentist, doctor, mechanic, etc. We really like it. You can read our post, San Isidro de El General, for more info. Best of luck saving up for the move!
