One Week Hiking in CR at the end of November

We are coming to CR at the end of November. Interested mostly in hiking and exploring. We have 2 boys ages 11 and 13 who are very well traveled/great hikers. Would it make sense to spend 4 nights in Arenal area and then 3 in Guanacaste? We are not big on sitting by the pool, and have found several hikes and hanging bridges hikes in Arenal.  What do you suggest?

Hi SS,
Yes, 4 nights in the La Fortuna/Arenal area sounds like it would fit your family well. The hiking in Guanacaste is not great in our opinion since the coastal areas are pretty flat. So many people staying there end up driving/shuttling 1-2 hours into the mountains to visit the area around Rincon de la Vieja to see some wildlife and mountains. But there are a few cool hikes like Diria National Park and Lomas Barbudal, which you might like. You could also consider visiting Monteverde, which has lots of hiking option or Tenorio/Rio Celeste. Just some ideas, hope they help.
