Mo reverse was a beautiful place to visit, nice restaurants/bars/shops, it is very hilly (bring it’s up a mountain). Lots to do whilst there. We used Treetop’s a to go zip lining and high bridges walk, they were very professional and made sure your safety was top priority.

If you are a birder, this is paradise. In just a few days we identified nearly 200 species of birds. There are lots of reserves, parks, etc. in Monteverde to explore and it would be easy to spend a couple of weeks trying to see them all. Try to find a good guide, they are invaluable.

Monteverde was one of the highlight of our Costa Rica tour. The forests are beautiful (though we saw more wildlife during the day in Manual Antonio and Cahuita). Do not miss the night tour with a knowledgeable local guide, you can spot a lot of animals and he also explains a lot about animals that you can see on your own during the day. Millions of potentials for different activities (we tried Selvatura package, excellent, can only recommend), coffee plant tour, hanging bridges, hiking, etc. I wish we could have had more time here ! I would return anytime (to hike El Tigre which we did not have time now, do a canopy tour again and hanging bridges). Food was also great (Sabor Tico, at the football field and Choco Café Restaurante y Cafetería).

Monteverde is wonderful for nature lovers. We really enjoyed the Cloud Forest Biological Preserve. Even on a very windy day we saw quite a bit of wildlife and had a lovely walk. However, I recommend either reserving tickets online in advance or be prepared to wait over an hour for openings (they only allow 250 people at a time) on busy weekends. There are quite a lot of good places to eat. Go with one of the bigger companies on a night tour and book well in advance. We went through some area near a coffee farm and it was underwhelming.Taylor - 10Scored 10

The area is amazing. I love the mountains of Costa Rica. There are plenty of activities for everyone from the canopy tours and ziplines to hiking and wildlife viewing. The night walk was fun, but fewer groups out at once may allow more opportunity to see wildlife This year I hiked the Santa Elena Reserve, just as beautiful as Monteverde but less crowded. I had a great massage at the Monterverde Massage Center and there are a number of spas in the area. The number and quality of restaurants and cafes is amazing considering the size of the town.

The location is very good, within a 2 minutes walk you are in the city centre where you have nice restaurants and shops. My room had a nice bed and a lot of windows with a very nice view. Their property is absolutely beautiful (small but has everything you need) and the real bonus is the garden area. It is very well located next to Stella’s Monteverde (a great breakfast or lunch spot) and the Coffee Center where you can get great coffee. You can easily walk into Santa Elena (which is larger than Monteverde) in around 25 minutes, and a taxi back will only cost around 7 dollars.JanUnited Kingdom
